Today we headed to the WNC State Fair. Let me first say, there is a large concentration of interesting people to look at while walking around at the fair. Even if you fail to fall into the trap of the yummy smelling grease in the air, the 3-5 dollar movable rides, or the irresistable male trap of the games..... you can just watch the people around you. I saw more amazing tattoos, hair, and clothing than I've seen in quite awhile. But the kids had a blast! It was the first year we've really gone for anything other than the animals. We started with some "pig" racing (with a few ducks and goats thrown in as well), then we headed to a one ring circus (which was actually pretty impressive, and we finished with a few rides for the boys (this was the fastest I've seen $20 go since we visited a casino in Niagara in 2005!). The boys had a ball and I'm ready for bed at 8:30 tonight! I must say we'll have to do that again. But next year... we'll have to get pre-ride tickets before the fair starts for half-price. I think the boys are hooked... and well... so is their mom.
Waiting for the pig races to begin. They even gave them NASCAR names and numbers, and baited them to run with cheese doodles (I'm not making this up!). It was pretty comical, especially considering that this is what the couple that runs it does all the time!
Waiting for the circus to start.
See the guy balled up in the air?
Daddy joined us after he got off work for the last bit of the circus and the rides.
I think we'll be talking about this for awhile.
